Sasha Allen has been the only openly transgender performer to have made it through this year's Battle Rounds of The Voice Live Shows. That has been the situation over the course of 21 seasons. The Newtown team, Jim Allen and Sasha Allen have made it to the Top 8 within the 21-year history of the live shows on The Voice! Sasha disclosed that he was transgender when they were preparing their entry to participate in the Blind Auditions, and he stated to Parade.com that it was a decision that needed thought and consideration. "That was a really hard choice because you're exposing a personal and vulnerable aspect of yourself to millions and millions of viewers," said Sasha, who was transgender while at high school. The week before, during fan week, the love and support of fans, their reactions, and how that affected people showed it that it was well-worth the risk. We played the song before The Voice even existed. We were ecstatic when we heard it. We knew the song. were familiar with; it was one we had already thought of arranging. Fans truly hit the mark."
